State officials say 188 drivers illegally passed stopped school buses during Pennsylvania’s annual Operation Safe Stop event, an increase from 176 violations in 2024.
The one-day enforcement effort, coordinated by PennDOT, state police, and schools, aims to raise awareness of the state’s School Bus Stopping Law. Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll called the number of violations “unacceptable,” urging drivers to be more cautious around school buses to protect students.
