A Corsica man is in the Clarion County Jail after police said he choked a woman and waved a firearm during a domestic dispute in Clarion Borough.
ExploreClarion.Com reports the Borough PD charged 38-year-old Anthony Darnell Simpson with felony strangulation, simple assault, and harassment after responding to a reported hostage situation on Fern Street around 10 p.m. on Oct. 27. Police said Simpson appeared intoxicated when officers arrived and that the victim told them she struggled to breathe after he grabbed her by the throat. Simpson denied having a gun, though the victim said he waved one during the altercation.
Simpson was unable to post $25,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 4 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill.
