John Russell Motter, Jr., 58, of Punxsutawney, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 29, 2025.
He was born in Alliance, Ohio on July 3, 1967, a son of the late Carol Lee (Covel) Motter and John Russell Motter, Sr. of Canton, Ohio.
John was a dedicated employee of Proform Powdered Metals for nearly twenty years. He took pride in always showing up early and working overtime to get the job done right. Quiet and dependable, he never sought attention but earned the respect of those around him through his strong work ethic and steady presence.
He was deeply loyal to his family, particularly his sister and nephew, cherishing the bond they shared.
In his free time, he enjoyed the peace of the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and he loved relaxing with a good football game, or crime mystery show on television.
He is survived by his father, four sisters, Cheryl Lynn Motter of Punxsutawney, Megan (Benjamin) Ohler of Hartville, Ohio, Tammy Wolford of Canton, Ohio and Tonya (Jimmy) McQuaid of Canton, Ohio; one brother, Bradly McCullough of Canton, Ohio; special nephew, Nicholas James Motter and niece Breounna McCullough.
Preceded in death by his mother Carol, stepmother, Shirley Motter and an infant sister, Erin Motter.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Marcus John.
Interment will be private at North Forest Cemetery, Marienville.
