In a decisive night for District 9 Class 1A soccer at Brookville, both the boys’ and girls’ titles were decided. In the boys’ final, Brockway secured its second consecutive championship with a 2-1 win over Elk County Catholic. Nicholas Bennett and Luke Martino scored the goals to lift the team to victory. In the girls’ final, Karns City clinched a dominant 7-1 victory over Elk County Catholic to claim the championship. Hanna Dailey was the offensive star, leading the Gremlins with a hat trick (three goals).
D-9 Volleyball
The DuBois volleyball team dominated their five-hour road trip to Pittsburgh, sweeping Brashear 3-0 (25-0, 25-6, 25-7) in the PIAA District 8/9 Class 3A subregional. The victory was highlighted by Ella Gibson’s extraordinary performance, as she served all 25 points in the first set, racking up 14 aces. Izzy Hanley led the Lady Beavers’ attack with seven kills, supported by Alexis Brown, who added five.
