Clearfield County Commissioners unanimously declared October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month at their Tuesday meeting, but the event was underscored by severe budget concerns.
According to the Courier Express, the ongoing state budget impasse, which has been in effect since June 30, is causing major disruption, forcing the county to use reserve funds and impacting essential local services.
Commissioners Tim Winters and Dave Glass implored state lawmakers to pass a budget, noting that the impasse is “starting to hurt people throughout the entire commonwealth” and preventing organizations like Crossroads from operating at full capacity.
