Authorities say a fourth infant’s remains were discovered at a Cadogan Township home, leading to additional charges against 39-year-old Jessica Marie Mauthe of Ford City.
WTAJ News says, Mauthe, who was previously accused of concealing the deaths of three newborns, is now charged with criminal homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and multiple counts of concealing the death of a child and abuse of a corpse. Police say the remains were found after the property owner uncovered a trash bag in a closet following her eviction, with more remains later located in totes in the attic.
According to investigators, Mauthe admitted giving birth to the infants over the past six years and failing to seek help when they died. She is being held without bail in Armstrong County Jail, with a preliminary hearing set for September 30.
