Former DuBois City Manager Herm Suplizio appeared in federal court Thursday as his defense team pushed for more specifics on the embezzlement charges he faces.
WTAJ News reports, Suplizio is accused of stealing $1.5 million in city funds between 2008 and 2022. His attorneys are requesting a bill of particulars to identify which of nearly 2,000 bank and credit card transactions prosecutors allege were unauthorized and used for personal gain. Prosecutors countered that the law doesn’t require them to pinpoint each transaction ahead of trial, only to prove that more than $5,000 was stolen. They said Suplizio already has access to all the evidence needed to prepare his defense.
A ruling on the motion is expected within 30 days.
