The Clearfield Regional Police Department is facing internal turmoil after its police union issued a unanimous vote of “no confidence” against Police Chief Vincent McGinnis.
According to WJAC News, all 14 members of the union who participated in the vote expressed a lack of confidence in the chief, citing low morale, an overwhelming overtime burden, and an “unsafe staffing environment.” The union alleges that Chief McGinnis is responsible for creating a hostile workplace and has failed to fill open officer positions, which they say compromises the safety of the department’s officers. When asked for comment, Chief McGinnis stated the issue will be addressed by a committee.
The supervisors of Lawrence Township have so far declined to comment on the ongoing situation.
