State police say two people were taken to Brookville Hospital with suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.
The crash happened around 4:34 p.m. on Route 36. Police report a 16-year-old Brookville boy fell asleep while driving a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound, causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit an embankment and a mailbox.
The driver and his passenger, 49-year-old Leigh A. Reitz of Brookville, were both transported by ambulance.
The Hyundai was heavily damaged and towed from the scene. Sigel Volunteer Fire Department and Brookville Ambulance assisted.
