Pennsylvania American Water has finished two major storage projects totaling $11 million to improve reliability, fire protection, and flexibility in the local system.
According to Friday’s Punxsutawney Spirit The first project, completed in October 2024, added a 500,000-gallon elevated storage tank near Alliance Drive. The $5.5 million tank now serves about 15% of the system, including many commercial and industrial customers, replacing reliance on a booster pump station. The second project replaced a nearly 100-year-old, 2-million-gallon reservoir at the West End site. Crews built two new 750,000-gallon concrete tanks, finished between October 2023 and June 2024, and demolished the old reservoir.
