State police have released findings from an independent study analyzing more than 433,000 traffic stops made by troopers in 2024.
The report found no significant racial or ethnic disparities in stop reasons or outcomes. Most stops resulted in warnings or citations, with arrests in just 3.7% of cases.
Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris said the data proves decisions are based on facts, not race. The study, led by Dr. Robin Engel of Ohio State University, praised the department’s transparency and data quality as a statewide model.
