Timothy A. Tyger, age 80 of Punxsutawney, passed away on July 26, 2025. He was born on February 23, 1945, in Indiana, Pennsylvania to Isaac Blair Tyger and Geraldine Cleora Gaston.
A 1963 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School, Tim spent much of his work life as a heavy equipment operator and member of Operating Engineers Local 66.
An avid outdoorsman, Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling the country with his wife of 27 years, Kathie. A few of their favorite destinations included the state parks of Florida, Topsail Island in North Carolina and Alaska, which held a very special place in his heart. Saturdays in the fall were reserved for Penn State football and the Pittsburgh Steelers occupied every Sunday. Stock car and dirt track racing was another of his passions, the World of Outlaws sprint car series in particular.
Tim’s family is left with countless wonderful memories, many of which were created at the farm where he was raised. The family farm was a gathering place where fun and laughter were had by all. He shared many special memories with his grandchildren including baseball games, motorcycle rides, water battles, jumping beans and “magic” marbles. Tim loved each of them dearly.
Tim is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Tyger; his children, Robert W. Tyger and wife Nancy, Tonya D. Wood and husband Gene, Timothy A. Tyger and wife Tracy; stepchildren, Jamie Coudriet and wife Tammie and Joel Coudriet; grandchildren, Lindsey Tyger, Shauna Osikowicz and husband Jacob, Jacob Tyger, Joshua Tyger, Gage Coudriet and Xavier Coudriet; great grandchildren, Aubree, Emerson and Beckham; sister Carole Hains; brother Larry Tyger and wife Carol and numerous nieces and nephews.
