A New Bethlehem man is in jail after he allegedly strangled his girlfriend during a dispute at a Porter Township residence.
ExploreClarion.com reports Clarion State Police filed charges, including strangulation and simple assault against 23-year-old Tyler Edward Troup from New Bethlehem on January 6.
Published reports say the victim told police that Troup was “banging on the bathroom door,” so she let him in. According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police that Troup “grabbed her by the throat and cut off her breathing for about five seconds” before letting go and leaving the bathroom.
Troup was arrested and arraigned during the early hours on Sunday Morning at the District Court and set to the Clarion County Jail after failing to post $10,000.00 cash bail. Troup faces a preliminary hearing on January 15 at 10:00 a.m.
