The Bell Township supervisors announced that they will be conducting smoke testing of the sewer system from August 12 to August 30 to identify breaks and defects.
Today’s Punxsutawney Spirit reports the testing involves using a motor to blow non-toxic smoke through the sewer lines. Residents may see smoke rising from yards, manhole covers, and vents, which is normal and poses no fire hazard. If smoke enters a building, residents should open windows for ventilation and inform the crew.
Testing could be delayed by heavy rain. For more details, contact Bell Township at 814-938-2370
