The City of DuBois is considering demolishing two buildings to combat blight.
GantNews.com reports, on Monday, the council decided to seek quotes for tearing down a fire-damaged property at 115 ½ S. Highland St. and the “Carpet Outlet” building at 113 S. Brady St., which survived a previous condemnation.
The owner of the Carpet Outlet building has appealed the demolition order, leading to the discovery that the city’s International Property Maintenance Code Appeals Board is inactive, as it lacked members since 2022. The council has now appointed two members to the board and is seeking a third.
