On June 21, police responded to a report of animal neglect at an apartment on Park Avenue in Punxsutawney. ExploreJeffersonPA.Com reports, Officers found several malnourished dogs and a dead puppy at the residence of 18-year-old Alvin J. Grove.
The conditions were dire, with dogs severely emaciated and puppies in a crate without food or water. Grove admitted he was overwhelmed and unable to care for the animals. No vet records or proper licensing were found. Animal rescue was called to take custody of the surviving animals.
Grove faces multiple charges, including aggravated cruelty to animals and neglect. A preliminary hearing is set for July 19 with District Judge Jacqueline Mizerock.
