A Punxsutawney Borough Council member, Eric Story, responded to comments by Young Township Supervisor Ron Heitzenrater regarding sewer rates.
According to the Punxsutawney Spirit, Heitzenrater claimed that Young Township would not vote on the rates until Punxsutawney approved them, accusing the borough of previously backing out. Story refuted this, stating that Punxsutawney has maintained a sewer contract for 45 years and that it’s Young and Bell townships that have failed to honor their commitments, withholding rate increase payments for three years. He criticized the townships for not installing required meters and mentioned unresolved issues with Calvary Heights sewage, indicating a potential costly repair.
Story emphasized his commitment to Punxsutawney residents and suggested legal action might be necessary.
