At Parker Dam State Park, officials are using coyote decoys to deter Canadian geese from settling on the beach area during spring migration.
WJAC News reports, moving the decoys periodically prevents geese from realizing they’re not real predators. This proactive approach aims to prevent water contamination and potential beach closures due to high bacterial counts.
The decoys will only be deployed as needed, with no plans to keep them up throughout the summer.
