A local man, 42-year-old Eric Matthew Gilbert, of Glen Campbell, is facing charges for allegedly abusing his ex-girlfriend in Punxsutawney over several years.
The victim, according to ExploreJeffersonPa.com, reported physical, emotional, and verbal abuse, including incidents of strangulation and assault. The alleged abuse was reported to the police, who filed criminal charges against Gilbert.
The victim, fearing for her safety, sought medical attention and is pursuing a Protection From Abuse Order. Gilbert, a plumber, will have a preliminary hearing on February 21.
