Despite being called a “menace to society” by Westmoreland County prosecutors when he was sentenced to prison this month, Ray Shetler Jr. has filed a request for “special parole and probation supervision” with the county court, hoping for early release.
The 39-year-old New Florence man was ordered to serve 1 to 2 years in prison plus 2 years of probation, with 399 days credit for time already served for aggravated assault, disarming a police officer, and resisting arrest.
Shelter was found guilty in connection with a brawl in December of 2021 when officers found him hiding at his girlfriend’s home after he’d skipped a probation hearing.
