Clearfield County authorities have temporarily halted the local jail’s work release program due to contraband concerns.
Interim Warden Susan McQuillan decided during a recent prison board meeting. The program, with only one current participant, will be suspended for about a month while awaiting the installation of new scanning equipment, according to County Commissioner Dave Glass.
The jail has faced controversy involving contraband, drug overdoses, lawsuits, and inmate escapes in recent months.
