The Punxsutawney Borough Council held its first budget meeting for 2024 and announced that there would be no tax increase.
According to The Punxsutawney Spirit, Sam Sulkosky, the interim borough manager, presented the preliminary budget figures, stating that they expect to have a balanced budget with a small surplus. Sulkosky explained that most expenses should be in the general fund, but some, like the liquid fuels tax, need to be kept separate based on state law.
The Spirit adds the council plans to have the final budget ready for the next council meeting.
