The fundraising group Save Punxsy’s Local Area Swimming Hole requested a change in their agency status during a meeting with Punxsutawney Borough Council.
According to the Punxsutawney Spirit, SPLASH, as it is known, has been working to keep the George C. Brown Community Pool open for the past two decades. However, since they are not a 501(c)3 non-profit, they have been unable to access certain funds.
The Spirit adds, the Punxsutawney Community Foundation has offered to help resolve this issue by allowing SPLASH to operate independently as a non-profit.
