At a recent meeting of the Punxsutawney Area School Board, a motion was made to address the issue of books available in the school library. However, the motion failed due to a lack of support.
According to the Punxsutawney Spirit, District Superintendent Dr. Thomas Lesniewski announced the reading of a new policy concerning student access to library books. Board member Deneen Evans suggested implementing a form that would allow parents to restrict their child’s access to certain books and proposed removing books that are not age-appropriate or contain explicit material.
The Spirit adds the matter will be discussed further at an upcoming voting meeting.
