The Jeff Tech Operating Committee met last night and approved a late agenda item that will provide advanced training equipment for students.
The committee accepted a Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) grant totaling $150,000 through the Jobs Training and Education Program. The school is required to provide matching funds of up to $50,000. School Director Dr. Barry Fillman said the money will be used to purchase equipment for students in the Advanced Manufacturing Shop. Cut :09 industry School Principal Melissa Mowrey updated the committee on enrollment numbers. She said that 571 applications have been approved for the upcoming school year with other applications pending. Director Fillman said the new student orientation day has been set for August 22 with the first day of school set August 24.
