
Dr. Ambrose talked about the recent opening of a clinic in Punxsutawney in the Walmart Plaza.
He said their main office is in DuBois and they also have offices in Clearfield, Brookville, and St. Marys.
The clinic in Punxsutawney has been open for about six months. Dr. Ambrose said several different providers go to the Punxsy clinic. Mondays and Thursdays their Nurse Practitioner Michelle Jacobson is there and on Wednesdays Dr. Grace Wenzel is in office. Dr. Ambrose said he is there at least one Friday a month.
The hospital in Penn Highlands offers cardiac catheriterizations, stent placement, pacemaker implants, and cardiac surgeries. He said in their offices they do primarily consultative work and follow up work with patients who have hear disease.
He said the office typically receives a referral from a patient’s primary care physician or from the hospital. He said the best way to reach the main office is to call 814-375-3722 with any inquires.
Dr. Ambrose said unexplained chest pains, rapid heart beat, shortness of breath, and severe dizzy spells are often common symptoms associated with heart disease. He said the common disorders of high blood pressure and high cholesterol which don’t often show symptoms are also contributing factors to heart disease.
He said some important tips to remember when it comes to heart disease is to keep regular visits with a primary care physician, eat a healthy balanced diet, exercise regularly, and to stop smoking.
Dr. Ambrose also expressed his appreciation to the Punxsutawney community for the reception DuBois Cardiology has recently received.
