A “Meet the Candidates” event was held at the Punxsutawney Country Club Tuesday evening for those in the May primary.
Candidates running for school board and borough council introduced themselves and answered public questions. School board candidates discussed taxes, budgeting, communication with the community, and cyberschool issues such as cost and quality of education. Candidates also discussed keeping youth in the community by emphasizing trades as well as strengthening home economics and life skills programs.
Borough council candidates discussed topics including animal rights and rescue, metered parking downtown, and zoning ordinances related to the re-zoning of residential areas to commercial.
