Defense attorneys for former DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio are opposing federal prosecutors’ effort to disqualify attorney William Shaw Jr., arguing there is no conflict of interest and calling the move an attempt to interfere with Suplizio’s right to counsel.
WJAC News reports, Prosecutors claim Shaw’s ties to a potential witness and his involvement in a 2023 city council recording create a conflict, but the defense says Shaw neither represents the witness nor holds confidential information.
The court is expected to decide whether to hold a hearing on the issue as the public corruption case proceeds.
