An 81-year-old Clarion man was killed and two others were injured in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 80 in Mercer County.
ExploreClarion.Com reports the collision occurred around 9:38 a.m. in the westbound lanes when a Ram 3500 struck the rear of a Ford Focus, which was then pushed into a Freightliner tractor-trailer, creating a chain-reaction crash. Police said the Ford became partially lodged under the trailer, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma. The other two drivers were taken to a hospital with possible injuries.
Authorities said all drivers were wearing seat belts, and the driver of the Ram was cited for following too closely.
