A former employee of Community County Services in DuBois has been charged with allegedly stealing nearly $82,000 from the organization.
According to WTAJ News, 38-year-old Samantha Jo Browne of Summerville faces charges including theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, failure to make required disposition of funds and forgery. Investigators allege Browne, who worked in accounts payable and receivable from March 2023 to August 2024, gave herself multiple unauthorized pay raises and forged a reimbursement check while the company’s CEO was away for medical reasons. Authorities said the alleged raises and forged check totaled about $81,918.75.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 10 before David S. Meholick.
