A Clarion Borough man is facing a misdemeanor assault charge after police say he punched a victim during an argument in February.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, 27-year-old Semaj Eeloni Garnes allegedly struck the victim in the left eye with a closed fist during a verbal dispute around 7:30 a.m. Feb. 26 at a residence on South Street. Troopers said the victim suffered bruising and a cut to the eyelid and was later evaluated at Clarion Hospital. Garnes was arraigned March 9 before Timothy P. Schill, who set bail at $1,000 unsecured.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 24.
