Pennsylvania State Police were involved in an hours-long armed standoff Wednesday after attempting to serve a warrant at an apartment on North 2nd Street in Philipsburg, authorities said.
WJAC News reports, the male suspect, who is allegedly facing child sex abuse charges, barricaded himself inside the residence and claimed to be armed with multiple weapons. Roads in the downtown area were closed as negotiators urged him to surrender, and police deployed a drone and a battering-ram vehicle during the incident.
Streets began reopening shortly after midnight Thursday, though the suspect’s status had not been officially confirmed.
