A 71-year-old man died Monday morning after a house fire on South Park Street in Sykesville despite firefighters arriving within five minutes of the initial call, authorities said.
According to WJAC News,the Sykesville Fire Department and assisting crews were dispatched at 7:24 a.m. and found smoke coming from all sides of the residence, containing the fire within about 20 minutes. The Jefferson County coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The home was deemed a total loss, and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. The identity of the man has not been released.
