An early morning house fire displaced a family of four and killed more than a dozen pets Wednesday in Curwensville, authorities said.
WJAC News reports, Fire crews were called just before 6 a.m. to a home in the 600 block of Filbert Street, where they battled flames and extreme cold as fire shot through the roof. No people were injured, but a family member confirmed that 14 cats and two dogs died in the blaze, while one cat was rescued and is recovering.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the state police fire marshal.
