A former Brookville man is facing felony charges after police say he stole an urn containing his grandmother’s cremated remains from his grandfather’s home following an argument.
According to ExploreJeffersonPa.Com, Brookville Borough police charged 18-year-old Austin Joseph Spera, of Follansbee, West Virginia, with felony theft and misdemeanor abuse of historic lots and burial places, according to court documents. Investigators allege Spera took the urn in October out of anger and transported the remains to West Virginia without permission.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 2.
