U.S. Reps. Glenn “GT” Thompson of Pennsylvania and April McClain Delaney of Maryland have introduced bipartisan legislation to shield retired health care workers and first responders from losing Social Security benefits if they return to work during public health emergencies.
The proposal would exempt them from the Social Security Retirement Earnings Test and restore benefits lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Supporters say the measure fairly compensates those who stepped up during national crises.
