With Halloween approaching, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is urging drivers and pedestrians to make safety a priority.
Officials warn drivers to expect an increase in pedestrians on the roads and to slow down, particularly in low-light conditions. Last year, Pennsylvania recorded 358 crashes on Halloween, resulting in two deaths and 231 injuries, with 20 crashes tied to impaired driving.
PennDOT advises motorists to plan ahead, avoid driving after drinking, and be vigilant for children who might suddenly cross streets.
