The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center has received more than $48,000 in state funding for much-needed building renovations.
Staff say the upgrades will address long-standing safety issues, including damaged sidewalks, an aging accessibility ramp, and interior repairs caused by an old roof leak. Executive Director Lisa Waksmunski says the improvements will help the center continue its mission of educating young visitors and supporting local tourism.
The building, which now hosts interactive weather exhibits, once served as the town’s post office until 1998.
