Florence Arbutus Stark, 96, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born at home in Mahaffey on May 07, 1929, a daughter of the late Franklin Robert Meckley and Clair Viola (States) Meckley.
Flo was a hard worker and held many different jobs over the years which included factory work and waitressing, always doing whatever she had to do to make an honest living.
She was a very loving woman, and there was never a time she didn’t say “I Love you.” Always put together and classy, she carried herself with grace and warmth that made everyone around her feel special. She loved her family immensely and cherished every moment spent with them. In her free time, she previously enjoyed dancing to polkas, tending to her beautiful Seven Sisters rose bushes, relaxing with a good book or playing games on her kindle. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and shared that joy generously with those she loved.
She is survived by three children, Eugene Stark of Thomasville, Georgia, Darlene Hoffman of Mercer and Greta (Paul) Walker of Punxsutawney; a bonus third daughter, Paula Webster of Mercer; six grandchildren, Tracy Hoffman, Ryan (Jennifer) Hoffman, Heather Walker, Brandi Walker, Sherri (Mike) McMahan and Steven Stark; eight great grandchildren, Mario Manfredi and soulmate Maddie, Tyler (Monica) Hoffman, Chase (Melissa) Hoffman, David Shoff and Brynn Shoff, Jadyn McMahan, Emily McMahan, and Gillian Stark; one great-great granddaughter, Lennox Hoffman.
Preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two infant brothers, Franklin Meckley and James Meckley;six sisters, two infant sisters, Mildred Meckley, Sara Griffith, Eva Wainwright and Laura Tomaski.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no viewing. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.
