Punxsutawney is marking a historic milestone this weekend, celebrating its 175th Anniversary of public service.
The town itself has roots tracing back to 1820, but its official borough status, enabling crucial public services, was established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1850. Punxsutawney, most famous as the home of the groundhog—or “Wojack,” the native term for the “keeper of wisdom”—will host a major celebration in Barclay Square.
