A Clarion man is facing charges after allegedly admitting to smothering his 2-year-old son during a bedtime dispute, according to State Police.
Troopers say 29-year-old Alexander Zolnerowich was arrested on August 20, 2025, after officers responded to a Clarion Township home around 9:23 p.m. and found the child with a bloody nose, scratches, and a bite mark. The boy’s mother told police she found Zolnerowich pinning the child and covering his nose and mouth. According to the complaint, Zolnerowich admitted he “snapped” and used his hand to try to knock the boy out, calling it “a stupid mistake.”
Zolnerowich was charged on August 21 with felony child endangerment, misdemeanor assault, and harassment. He was arraigned that day and jailed on $50,000 bail before being released on August 22. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 2.
