A Mercer County man is facing charges after allegedly trying to sell stolen sports memorabilia at a local antique shop.
Police say 35-year-old Charles Jam Airgood III, currently jailed at SCI Waymart, attempted to pawn items taken during a 2023 burglary in New Bethlehem. The victim recognized the memorabilia from photos the shop sent him, leading troopers to investigate. Airgood reportedly left a sticky note with his name and number before leaving the shop in a blue sedan. Another man told police he helped Airgood move items from a Sligo storage unit but claimed he didn’t know they were stolen. Airgood denied the theft, saying he only tried helping pawn the items.
Airgood is charged with receiving stolen property, with a preliminary hearing set for September 9.
