Jarrod Sowa was introduced as the new deputy warden of Clarion County Jail at the August prison board meeting.
With nearly 30 years of experience in corrections, law enforcement, and emergency management, Sowa said he’s adjusting to local policies and systems while getting to know the staff. His career began in Westmoreland County and later took him to Florida, where he worked in dual roles during emergencies. Sowa also holds certifications from FEMA and a counseling degree focused on trauma therapy.
Warden Sherry Yates reported an uptick in staffing and jail activity in July, including 46 commitments, 44 releases, and 61 inmates on average. The facility also conducted multiple medical and mental health services, drug assessments, and earned more than $3,000 from phone and tablet services.
