A New York man, Alan E. Cebula, was arrested in Brookville, Pennsylvania, after allegedly attempting to meet a person he believed was a 15-year-old girl.
The arrest on August 1 followed an investigation by the citizen group “814 Pred Hunters,” which poses as minors online to expose predators. The group had been exchanging sexually explicit messages with Cebula for about a month before he agreed to meet the decoy at a gas station. Upon his arrival, the group alerted Brookville Police, who then took him into custody.
Cebula, 43, of Binghamton, New York, is now facing multiple charges, including Criminal Attempt—Statutory Sexual Assault and Criminal Use of Communication Facility. He was arraigned on August 1 and remains in the Jefferson County Jail on $30,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 12.
