David Michael Dubensky, Sr., 90, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Highland View Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
He was born at home in Adrian on March 17, 1935, a son of the late Michael Larry Dubensky and Mary (Quashnok) Dubensky. David is the last member of his immediate family.
Mr. Dubensky was a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. His faith was incredibly strong and unwavering.
On May 17, 1958, he married the love of his life, Sandra Lee Clark. They enjoyed nearly sixty-six years of marriage prior to her death on April 25, 2024. Their love and dedication to one another was a true love story.
Mr. Dubensky served in the United States Army in Germany and had the unbelievable opportunity of serving with Elvis Presley. He took a picture of Elvis and asked him to autograph the picture, which he kindly did.
Mr. Dubensky was very easy going and was a man of few words, he never complained and always had the brightest smile on his face. He was a great provider for his wife and children. David had previously worked in construction, worked on the railroad and eventually retired as a machinist from Star Iron Works. He was deeply dedicated to all his roles in life from the very beginning, first as a son, a brother, an uncle, a father and a grandfather. He was a great friend to many as well.
He was not one to sit still, he was always moving, taking care of anything that needed to be done, his grandchildren lovingly nicknamed him “Mr. Fix-It” His hands were rough from the years of labor, but his heart was soft with love and quiet pride in the life he built through hard work and dedication.
His enjoyments were polkas and all kinds of music, he loved his daily visits from his daughter Patty. His eyes lit up at the sight of the fresh donuts she would bring him. His delight in the donut brought joy to the hearts of others who witnessed his happiness by her small act of kindness.
He is survived by two children, Patricia A. (Dan) Jones of Brockway, and David M. Dubensky, Jr. of Punxsutawney; two granddaughters, Alexis R. (David) Green of Amhearst, Ohio and Brooke N. Dubensky of Kent, Ohio.
Preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Sandra; four sisters, Kathryn “Kay” Kendra, Veronica Koromaus, Barbara Roseman and Nancy Agnello; two brothers, Alex Dubensky and Edward “Ubby” Dubensky.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc, Punxsutawney.
