Should Pennsylvania have a full-time legislature? One State Rep says, no.
State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz, a Republican, proposes ending Pennsylvania’s full-time legislature, citing wasted taxpayer money and reduced public participation. Pennsylvania’s 253 legislators earn over $106,000 annually, ranking second-highest nationally, and the state is one of only 10 with a full-time legislature.
Borowicz seeks a constitutional amendment to return to part-time status, letting voters decide after a lengthy legislative process. Thirteen Republicans back the bill, which is pending in the House State Government Committee.
