Reynoldsville Borough Council met last night and approved Jefferson County’s request to decertify Visit PA Great Outdoors or PAGO as the county’s tourism organization.
Sam Bundy has the report.
Borough Secretary Jaquelyn Beers read a letter from the commissioners stating that PAGO has repeatedly failed to fully cooperate with the county commissioners and auditors over the course of several years. It was this “lack of compliance” and transparency over taxpayer funding that prompted Jefferson County to join Clarion and Forest County in withholding funds from PAGO.
After some discussion, Councilmember Ralph August commented. August then made the motion to accept the resolution, which was seconded by Councilmember Nichole Walk and passed unanimously.
The county needs 65 percent of its municipalities to approve the resolution for it to go through. There’s been no word on where that process stands.
