The Punxsutawney Borough Council approved a motion, 5-1, Monday night to increase the starting pay for borough police officers.
In today’s edition of The Punxsutawney Spirit, the change was made following another full-time officer leaving for better pay in Clarion. The published reports says the police department wants to increase the starting wage of a little more than $33,000 to approximately $40K in order to keep officers in Punxsutawney.
