Governor Tom Wolf yesterday vetoed a package of bills connected with the reopening of the state from the coronavirus shutdown.
The three bills that Wolf vetoed would allow counties to make the decision on reopening safely, reopening legal services and real estate activities and reopen manufacturing, barbershops and salons, lawn and garden centers, vehicle dealers, messenger and agent services and animal grooming services. After the vetoes were announced, Wolf announced modifications to the business closure order that would allow businesses and employees in the real estate industry to conduct limited business-related activities across the state and provided guidance for the industry to operate in red- and yellow-phase counties.
State Senator Joe Pittman said that the vetoes were expected, but he had hoped that the bipartisan support might sway Wolf toward signing the bills.
Pittman said that the other two bills could be called up for another vote in the House and Senate to override the Governor’s veto.
