On Tuesday House Bill 2050 was introduced in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to legalize recreational marijuana. It would create a permitting structure for growers, processors, and dispensaries. Revenue would be generated by a wholesale tax of 10 percent on business-to-business transactions, while growers and processors partnered with an existing Pennsylvania farm are free from paying that tax.
Consumers will also foot an excise tax starting at six percent, which increases to 12 percent after two years and to 19 percent after four years.
No word on when they vote on it.
